He delayed in striking because...

I think he didnt want to have a conscience on his hands telling him that he killed an innocent person. The ghost's identity was a bit shaky, i admit that i would hesitate. I think he also had a bit of a procrastination problem going there. On top of this i dont want to be crucified for saying it but... Hamlet was a weak character, he is a big coward that didnt have the guts to stand up to his uncle in the end and to make matters worse ended up killing a few other people, who in my opinion, did not deserve to die.
