He was a person

The guy's been dead for 480 years.

There is no convincing evidence (or at least I haven't been convinced by
people arguing from any point of view) about whether he was sraight or gay
or bi or into threesomes or s&m or sheep.

Who cares?

He was one of the world's great geniuses and the best writer in any
of the three languages I can get by in. He wrote fiction from various
points of view, some of it was probably autobiographical, some of
it probably wasn't. At this distance who can tell which was which?

The fact that almost anyone can identify with at he said is evidence
of his brilliance, and I doubt that it's evidence of much else.
