Sh's sonnets are different

than those you cited, as the above are all titled and framed
as being 'about' characters, as Venus and Adonis was. But the sonnets
are not titled at all. They are clearly written without any
attempt at unity of character or theme(3/4 of the way through the
subjects change, the 'dark lady' comes in, the mood shifts radically
from adoration and yearning to bitterness and hatred)without artiface
of any kind 'constructed' in, over or around them. They are bare
things, the kind of things you'd find in the personal journal of
an incredibly good writer. And I contend that that is exactly
what they are. Unintended to be published, yet too good to be
kept private forever, so they eventually were published.
