Jonson wrote an epigram on spies at court - and some critics
(cf John Archer, Sovereignty and Intelligence [or something])
see the omnipresence of spying as fundamental to the court
experience in this period. To be part of the world of politics
and faction is to be part of the world of spies. Hamlet is full
of spies, for example, without being about bisexuality etc.Sorry about the "straight": just wanted to be sure.
