Obvious fallacy

There is no reason why a writer can't be a good businessman. Wallace Stevens, for example, was a vice president at a large insurance company.

The idea that good writers have to starve is a self-indulgent fantasy created by bad writers who use it to justify the fact that they can't make a living at it.

Further, WS needed the extra income, since in those days the author never got any royalties for his work. Of course he looked for other ways to make money: he had no other choice.
