Take the witches for example...

The witches in Macbeth are a perfect example of Shakespeare's use of the supernatural and I think the reason he used them was because they could easily represent the three fates from Greek mythology. Just like the fates, the witches were able to predict the future because they have more in them than mortal knowledge. Try comparing your other examples of the supernatural to similar themes from other sources.
