Education

Assuming he went to school to age 16 or so, he would have had almost no science, business math, basic georgraphy, lots of history, more Latin and Greek than 99% of the population today, lots of literature, lots of creative writing. In London, a port city, he would easily have picked up French and maybe Italian. And look to his sources: virtually everything that seems like arcane knowledge in the plays is there in the books we know he read.
