Concept

Okay, in the beginning of the play, he's totally in love with Rosalind. He sees Juliet and suddenly all of that incredible feeling he talks about having for Rosalind is transfered to Juliet. Love darts or not, that is a pretty quick change-over. Also, the entire time frame for the play is less than a week. According to Elizabethean standards real love was not passionate. Romeo was not expereiencing love, but rather passion: the Concept of being in love rather than truly loving. He seems to be a Petrarchan sonnet writer personified. I wonder what you'd discover if you compared Romeo to the narrator in some of Will's sonnets?
