Did WS misrepresent the characters of Claudius, Gertrude, and Polonius

Hamlet has Horatio to explain and set things straight for him after he's died. The characters Claud, Geert, and Polon have no one to do so for them.
Is there any literature out there that proposes the possibility that WS may have deliberately misrepresented the behavious of those characters?

Please, rsvp. Fellow students would most appreciate your assistance.

Thanx...G
