Essay ideas

Odd that you're assigned to write an essay before finishing the play, but try this: Sh goes out of his way to give us an extensive picture of Hamlet BEFORE he meets the ghost and learns his father was murdered. Why? What is it about Hamlet he wants us to see before he gets the assignment? How will those insights affect our view of how he handles the assignment?
