Did you see the Roman Polanski version of the movie?

I don't know if this should even matter, but I guess Roman Polanski thought of the third murderer as Ross, Macduff's kinsman. But think about it: he was one of the last thanes to desert Macbeth and the third murderer could identify Banquo and knew his way around the castle when the murderers were waiting for Banquo.
Oh well, we could guess forever and not find it out.
