the appeal of Hamlet

Sounds like you have a great start, Kari, I wouldn't know what more to suggest.
Perhaps the aspect of Hamlet which I have always found most appealing is the
language... By "language" I don't mean so much the "thees" and "thous", but the
banter between the characters. Hamlet's cutting remarks to Claudius; the whole
"fish-monger" conversation with he and Polonius; Hamlet's remarks of being "mad
north-north-west... when the wind is southerly I know a hawk from a hand-saw";
and of course, the conversation with the grave-diggers... You gotta love that!
You can *feel* Hamlet's exasperation (albeit an easy exasperation) as he tries
to get a straight answer from the Clown.

Of course, there is the great dramatic element, as well... You've got to love a
play where the hero and his foil leap into a young woman's grave to debate who
had carried a deeper love for her...
