Shakespeare's themes are universal

There are only so many themes available to writers, and Shakespeare covered such a large percentage of them that it's inevitable later writers repeated them.

The main reason for reinterpretation is admiration; the stories are so good that authors want to do them again. They make changes for a variety of reasons.
