I don't know about Cleo being killed FIGURATIVELY by the asp, since it certainly cuases her true death, but there is a very famous passage in I.ii.130-on that describes how Anton's departure from Egypt is sure to kill Cleo. Enobarbus, ever the cynic, comments that he has "seen her die/Twenty times upon far poorer moment," of course referring to her abilities at acting, which she frequently uses to manipulate the lovestruck Antony.
