Gertrude is the quintessential "frail" Elizabethan woman, i.e.,
"frailty, thy name is woman." A good idea is to compare and contrast Gertrude with Ophelia, because they're both in the play to show Hamlet's opinion on women, and from this quote, his opinion of them is FRAIL!Posted by Kazza on March 27, 1997 at 16:02:00
