is, I think, a party to the plot to get Shylock into court for the ruling favoring Jessica that he seeks. But he sort of over-plays and is corrected by Shylock.

Your approch is on the right track and I congratulate you. I would have Antonio quite an old man. (For reasons I can describe in e-mail)

I think Antonio's consternation is genuine; for the court, without Portia has seemed to have forgotten the law that protects citizens securely.
