Try looking at Issac Asimov's Guide to Shakespeare.

There is material about her there. She was Cato's daughter
(as she says in the play). Cato had apparently been an enemy
of Caesar's, and Brutus had even fought against Caesar. I
think she is one of Shakespeare's finest characters. I have seen
the actress playing Portia steal the show during the scene with
Brutus after the conspirator leave his orchard. But Asimov
can tell you more
