His sanity weakens...

I believe that while Hamlet is putting on his "antic disposition",
he does become a little unsure of his own sanity- Polonius'
death is an obvious result of his emotional turmoil: not
essentially madness but definitely not the actions of a man
who is completely sane, least of all Hamlet who spends the
entire play procrastinating rather than just take his
revenge on Claudius.
