here it is

First of all, R&J are called "star crossed lovers" which means that they are thwarted by the influence of stars, that are ill fated, fated to disaster.
fate in this play is crucial, actually the prologue tells us that fate is inescapable. they are doomed to die, says the chorus. these children were born to die a tragic death. They are the victims of their parents quarrels and not the victims of their own actions.
Shakespeare wants to demonstrate that when fate is at work, even good characters die, this is the case of Paris who is not used as a villain by Sh.
When tragedy is at work, good characters are wasted !

About the letter which has not been delivered : this fact is PLAUSIBLE but more than plausibility, our attention is drawn to the inescapable working of FATE.
