Of all the things to write about in Antony and Cleopatra,
I've been asked to decide how "appropriate" the title "The World
Well Lost" (As given to the 1670's reworking by John Dryden) is
for the tragedy. Clearly, Antony's world as a soldier is lost,
remniscient of "Othello's occupation is gone". Then there is
the world embodied by the two lovers, which seems to transcend
location. Anyone have any thoughts as to other lost worlds in
A&C? I'd appreciate any starting points you can give me!
Thanks!
