Critical analysis of Love in Taming Of the Shrew

Was it really love portrayed in Taming, or was it male chauvinism, domination, and humiliation of women. Can the eyes of the twentieth century really look upon Taming and accept it for what it is, rather then try to relate the situations and event to our time, where Petrucchio becomes an evil and cruel man. Please, as many responces as possible please, your criticisms are welcome...
