I can help a little

I'm a management major and this stuff usually goes over my
head but we did this on Monday. I can help with some of it.
First of all, the speaker is a man who feels outcast (disgrace)
and out of luck(fortune) I don't know "men's eyes". He is upset
that his life is like this. "I all alone...bootless cries", this
means by himself he is crying to heaven (but heaven cannot hear
him) with bootless cries, his cries are futile . My teacher
suggested also deeper meaning: poor and without shoes. "And look
upon...rich in hope". He hates himself for what he has become and
wishes he were like other men who have more promise for a future.
"Featured...scope".Featured(main attraction,well liked) like this
guy, with friends like that guy. Desiring this man's art(talent
to have a better job),man's scope, knowledge. "With...least"(can't
help you there, sorry) "Yet..." here is where the poem changes
thought. Even though I feel this way about myself, "Happily..."
I think of my love and then my state(mood) (like the way a lark
sings happily in the morning) changes to the feeling of singing
at the gates of heaven. And remembering this love brings so
much more wealth than any of these other men he is jealous of, he
wouldn't even change places with a king.
I hope this helps you. Good luck!
