I have to write an essay on one particular passage and break it down to every last detail. The passage I have chosen is Act 3, scene 5,lines 1-35. The morning after Romeo and Juliet spend the night together. My teacher wants images, symbols, etc. but also how these things fit into the theme. What do these images suggest about the characters? What does the passage show what the character(s) is thinking about, feeling, hoping, fearing? What are their personalities like? Qualities, temperament, view of the world? AND why this passage is important to the plot of the play, our understanding of the characters, the issues and ideas, and how it relates to or develop a central idea of the play? Finally, find related speeches in other places in the play? I would GREATLY appreciate input on any or all of these questions!Posted by Allison on April 09, 1997 at 13:47:44
