a few thoughts...not so definitive

There's plenty in the woods which might be unsettling:
so part of the function of the mechanical's play is to
leave things on a high note. More to the point, the
main plot is about the conflict between the subjective
impulses of love and the restrictions of Athenian law.
The mechanical's play underscores the tragic potential
of this conflict, but plays it as farce.
