Macbeth's residence-history of Scotland

I am curious as to why Macbeth's castle is in Inverness, which is
the seat of the Thane of Cawdor, when he is the Thane of Glamis
after his father, who was already dead at the time of the play.
Glamis, Scotland, is located quite a distance to the Southeast of
Inverness. Obviously he had to be living in Inverness at the
start of the play when he was not yet the Thane of Cawdor. Also,
can anyone please tell me why Duncan's castle is in Forres and
not in Edinburgh? Or was the one in Edinburgh not built yet in
the 11th century? Lastly, does anyone know what the name of
Macbeth's castle in Inverness was?
