Iago's motivation is greed.

In my opinion, Iago's motivation is greed.
He was jealous that the moor had all the power.
He was also jealous that Cassio was Othello's second lieutenant.
All Iago cared about was manipulating people to his benefit.
The tragedy of the play is that Othello let Iago taint his mind
against Desdemona.
