Iago, being the wily villian that he is, ratted on Othello in the beginning of the
to Brabantio (Desdemona's father) and said that his daughter was with him. When Brabantio
caught up with Othello and took him to see the Duke, it was then that Desdemona
came forward to confront her father and proclaim her love and marriage to Othello.
After this had happened, Brabantio was forced to accept the marriage but cursed it by saying
be careful, she may fool you as she has fooled me(Sorry I don't have the exact quote line).
Iago took this warning later on and played it on Othello's paranoia and insecurity about this marriage.
Remember- Othello is insecure because he doesn't understand why Desdemona loves him and
married him and is a control freak- so to speak.Posted by Don Underwood on April 16, 1997 at 16:09:16
