Well, what that's basically trying to say is that some people by birth are considered great (like nobility), some people have to work to be considered great ( like a movie star or a singer), and some people may assume a great position but aren't necessarily as wonderful as they seem, like Tranio in The Taming of the Shrew, or the president.
