Copyright lasts less than 100 years. Shakespeare's works are in the public domain. (That means anyone can use them without charge.)
However, particular editions of Shakespeare may be in copyright because of editorial choices in the text, footnotes, introductions and critical articles etc. (Basically, things not done by Shakespeare.)
If you are simply performing or quoting from a Shakespeare play, I don't think you have to worry about copyright or other intellectual property rights. |
