Was Hamlet a compassionate human or a sniveling coward? What do you think?

What do you think the character of Hamlet portrays, is he human or just simply a yella belly? I would like to hear comments. I think he was both. At the start it was fair enough for him to hesitate but after the mouse trap his sniveling got on my nerves. He evn said himself,' i am pigeon livr'd and lack gall'. Is this how you picture Hamlet or do you think he is just giving himself a hard time while making you feel sorry for him?
