Watch it

Before I ever made students read the play I'd let them see a performance. That's what it was written for and a good production makes it so much easier to understand. The problem with the plays is they're not novels - they're scripts of largely diaIog with little stage direction. I recently saw the 1953 movie with Marlon Brando. If that or another version is available show it to your classes first.
