In theory

I cannot disagee and I added MOV because it was cited as an example. But one would have to be insensitive to insist on the theory here. To make the comedy comical we need two old men waving their arms about. The deference of Sal. and Sol. to Antonio is like that shown to the elderly. Portia welcomes Antonio into her home and before that the fitting out of Bassanio for the courtship is not consistent with the self- interest of a lover. And now I bring before you this little analogy of Titian which confirms an advanced age. Never mind about
his being a dirty old man. I don't see it although - I have already gone too far in saying why.
