Cliches

They're only cliches if they're overused, not if he's using them for the first time, and in a lot of cases he is; they've only become cliches since then. Still, he also uses received proverbs and sayings a lot. Try Hilda Hulme: EXPLORATIONS IN SH'S LANGUAGE and M Mahood: SH'S WORDPLAY.
