Speculated Reason Behind MSND Happy Ending

This play was written for an actual wedding, was
it not? That's really I suppose the reason why
the play ended so happily. I'm sure that if he
had a tragic ending that would be considered a
not so great omen and nothing too good would come
from it. Anyhow the play was mean to be light and
humourous. Airy. Why kill the mood?
