! ! ! - - - HAMLET AS A TRAGEDY - - - ! ! !

There seem to be many opinions over this and I would like to hear
anyone else's. First, is Hamlet a tragesdy because he didn't
fully understand himself? Is it that it is his battle with
himself that makes the tragedy? Is it because he tries to avoid
disaster but doesn't manage to?
All I need is three solid ideas to make up my mind.

Thanks in advance. I appreciate any comments.
