tragedy=everyone dies

The theory behind a tragedy is that by the end all of the main
characters have died. Now , with hamlet this is definately true,
but I don't think that for this one reason alone it is a tragedy.
The tragedy is with Hamlet and Laertes. They both have fathers that
are killed. In order to revenge their deaths they must kill the
killers. King kills hamlets dad, hamlet kills Laertes dad. They both get
their revenge but never live long enough to see it. Tragic? I think
so!
