To be a professor in an English department at a 4-year
college or university you pretty much need to have a doctorate.
And it's still no sure thing.If you are thinking about teaching at the college level
you might want to enter a decent masters program in English, get to
know the Shakespeare prof. and ask him/her about PhD options
and the academic job market.
