the question of Iago often being referred to as honest is a
complete act of satire on Shakespeare's behalf. The reason for
saying this is because he did it before. "When?" you ask well i
will tell you. Read Marc Antony's speech to the roman crowd
after Caeser has been killed. Numerous time he refers to Brutus
as "honorable man." this is the exact same device he is using in
this situation. It is the repitition of a complimentary or
seemingly honorably reference which kills its authenticity
creating the satiric impression that Mr. Bill Shakespeare intended
to give the audience.
