I think the answer to this question could
be found by looking up the word "honest"
in the OED, the Oxford English Dictionary,
which most libraries have. I wish I had a copy
right here to answer your question, but I
don't.
Also, my understanding has always been that
the "Honest" precursor to Iago's name can
be read to mean both "honest" as we know it
and as its exact opposite, in a satiric fashion.
