Looking closer at your comments, Amy, it appears to me that
Shakespeare does not value true love. Hippolyta could be an
unwilling bride; Hermia and Lysander are not allowed to get
married, although they are "in love";Demetrius can only love
Helena if he is drugged!So the course of true love is always
fraught with obstacles, unless some outside force intervenes.
