Carnivalesque theme in Twelfth Night

I find an underlying theme in TN of carnival. It seems my professor does not fully agree with me. The songs, the clown, the excess(drinking, love, food, in general) lead me to this belief. Anyone else have any interesting thoughts on this matter? Also, what about same sex love, not necessarily physical/homosexual, but in general again.
