I AM SEAKING HELP: WHY WERE WOMEN BANNED FROM THE STAGE IN SHAKE'S TIME?

I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO PUT MY OWN POST, SORRY!
I need to know WHY women were banned from the stage in
Shakespeare's time? Was it only the church and universities?
Did the reverence of the Greek and Roman stage cause this?
Why, when in Italy women were on the stage in Comedia Del Arte
did this banning of women continue?
