Unclear Reference

>Ophelia was trying to make everyone around her see that Hamlet

What does "it" refer to? Hamlet's madness? The fact that everyone
sees that Hamlet is mad? The world in general? Life? Are you
suggesting that Ophelia dies in order to stop people from seeing
Hamlet's madness?
